Review: Dual-screen Kyocera smartphone needs work

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- From emailing to Web surfing to taking photos, a smartphone can be a multitasker's best friend - unless all the tasks are making the screen feel too small. Wouldn't it be nice to have a second screen?

The Kyocera Echo, a new Android smartphone sold by Sprint, brings that neat idea to life. Simply slide over the touch screen to reveal a second, identical one.

You can use the two screens independently - for example, respond to an email on the top screen by typing on the virtual keyboard that fills the bottom display.

Or lock the two screens together for a display that is twice as large when watching videos or playing games.

The concept is a great one, but Kyocera Corp.'s execution is flawed.

The most obvious problem is the black frame surrounding each 3.5-inch screen. This results in a distracting black bar bisecting the two screens when they're side by side. It's nearly impossible to watch videos or view photos across the displays without staring at the dark line running down the middle.

And if you turn the phone so the screen is split horizontally, you'll only be watching a video on the top screen.

The rest of the phone's design could also use some work. It's nearly as thick as two iPhones stacked on top of each other, and it's much heavier than an iPhone. This girth, combined with its rectangular shape, makes the Echo look dated.

Then there's the hinge. To reveal the second screen, you must slide the first screen to the right and push it down. You can then tilt it upward or, if you want to have one big screen, slide it slightly back to the left to lock it into place. The whole process felt too clunky, and I kept worrying I would break the hinge.

And expect to use your Echo as, well, a phone - not just because calls sound decent, but because it drains battery quickly when used for Web surfing and other data-heavy tasks.

At first, I was delighted to see that it came with a second battery. I should have been suspicious.

In my first test at running down the battery, the phone made it through barely three-and-a-half hours of talking, Web surfing, streaming videos, instant messaging and gaming on one or both screens before emitting a sad-sounding buzz and shutting down.

I tried again, this time using just one screen, and got almost four hours. Sprint's website says the Echo will get up to seven hours of talk time on a charge, but that's not much help if you're also planning to look up directions, check email and download apps.

The phone, which costs $200 after rebate with a two-year service contract, would benefit from a software update, too. It comes with version 2.2 of Google Inc.'s Android software, which is available on plenty of other handsets but isn't the latest version for smartphones. Sprint says the update will come later in the year, and this should make the phone a little faster overall.

Speaking of software, the Echo ought to have been preloaded with Kyocera's free Tablet Mode Extension app. That's the tool you need before an app will splash itself across both screens (not all apps work with both screens, though). It's easy enough to download from Google's Android Market, but the phone should have come with it.

Despite the annoyances I found, there are some neat things you can do with the Echo's two displays.

The bottom screen functioned as a good virtual keyboard when I was texting or instant messaging, helped by the inclusion of Swype's finger-sliding typing software. I liked being able to open webpages on the larger display, and as long as I kept the phone oriented with the split horizontal, it didn't really disrupt my reading (scrolling was sometimes hampered, though).

It was fun to have my "hard news" open on one screen and gossip website open on another - just one more way I can stay fully informed.

There are a number of different tasks you can do simultaneously, including calling, Web surfing, e-mailing, watching videos and texting.

If your multitasking involves using Sprint's network, however, it won't be blazingly fast. Unlike a number of other Sprint phones, the Echo does not work on the company's newer "4G" network, so you'll have to make do with 3G or connect to a strong Wi-Fi hotspot for data-intense activities.

And on top of a regular monthly charge of at least $70 for voice and data services, you'll also pay the $10 per month data fee Sprint imposed on new smartphones earlier this year (it already applied this charge to its "4G" smartphones).

The Echo has an intriguing premise, but right now it simply doesn't hold up as a multitasking companion.

Notre Dame: No one to blame in student's death

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- The final investigation into the death of a student videographer who died after a 40-foot-high hydraulic lift he was atop blew over in a 53 mph gust during a University of Notre Dame football practice ended Monday without anyone involved being faulted or punished.

University officials acknowledged that their procedures and safeguards weren't adequate but said they couldn't find anyone to blame for 20-year-old Declan Sullivan's death. No one was monitoring wind speeds when the lift blew over, but it wasn't anyone's job to do that, executive vice president John Affleck-Graves said.

The Rev. John Jenkins, the university president, said he ultimately was responsible, but he doesn't expect any action to be taken against him.

"We did not find any individual who disregarded safety or was indifferent to safety. Consequently, there was not any individual discipline," Jenkins said. "Our conclusion is that it's a collective responsibility that must be deal with collectively as we move forward."

The university's 130-plus page report found that while several members of the football staff were monitoring wind speeds before practice, they stopped checking after they went out for practice about 2:45 p.m. But Sullivan, a junior film student from Long Grove, Ill., checked later and saw a warning indicating the possibility of gusts up to 60 mph. He tweeted that the weather was "terrifying" and wrote: "Gusts of wind up to 60 mph today will be fun at work . . . I guess I've lived long enough."

University investigators, however, couldn't determine whether Sullivan felt pressured to go up in the lift because other videographers said the tweets likely reflected his joking nature and he often used the word "terrifying."

A spokesman for Sullivan's parents said the family was satisfied with the school's investigation.

"We're grateful for the level of detail that they've put into this report. They've taken a hard look at the situation and they've found ways to improve safety on campus," Sullivan's uncle, Mike Miley, said in a telephone interview from Chicago.

An earlier investigation by the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration also ended without anyone being faulted, although the agency fined Notre Dame $77,500 for six safety violations, including knowingly putting its employees in an unsafe situation. The university said Monday that it was working with the agency on the fine and making changes to see that such an accident never occurs again.

Peter Likins, an engineer and former University of Arizona president, reviewed the university's report and said he agreed no one could be blamed.

"Though a needless loss of life cries out for one to shoulder blame, the facts here do not support any single individual finding of fault," he wrote.

The report came out two days after spring football practices ended. It said staff checked the weather at about 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 27 and saw that winds of 23 mph with 30 mph gusts had been measured by the National Weather Service.

They didn't know those reports were nearly an hour old and didn't see a later report of winds of 29 mph with 38 mph gusts, which would have caused the lifts to be lowered. The investigation found there was an unwritten policy of lowering the lifts when winds exceeded 35 mph, and two other lifts being used that day were not supposed to be used in winds of more than 28 mph, although they were less susceptible to tipping than the one Sullivan was on.

But it also said that an engineering analysis found that "wind speeds significantly higher than 35 mph were necessary to tip the lift."

Affleck-Graves, the university executive vice president, was asked why no one involved in making decisions didn't simply use common sense on the windy day and order the lifts down. There was no wind-measuring equipment on the field, and no one responsible for monitoring it, he said.

"The report highlights that as the primary weakness in our procedures," he said.

While football coach Brian Kelly made the decision to hold practice outside, he depended on advice from a number of people, including director of football operations Chad Klunder, then-head athletic trainer Jim Russ and Tim Collins, director of football video and film, the report said.

"Ultimately, no one - not Collins, Klunder, nor Russ - told Kelly or any coach that practice should be held indoors or that the lifts should not be used," the report said.

Kelly said Sullivan's death affected him "profoundly."

"You're never quite the same," he said. "But I think as has been articulated, I think we're all collectively focused on making sure that something like this never happens again."

Jenkins said he will work to make sure Notre Dame works to develop and participate in a national education effort on the safe use of hydraulic lifts at colleges, high school and elsewhere. Miley said that is what the family is most interested in.

"While there is never any time that you can have closure in the death of a child, there is certainly closure of this phase of the investigative process and it's time to take what can be learned and share it with others so no one else has to go through this," he said.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- South Korea's top Internet search companies asked the country's antitrust regulator Friday to investigate Google Inc. over whether it restricts competition in the mobile search market.

NHN Corp., which operates the top Naver search portal, and No. 2 Daum Communications Corp. filed complaints with South Korea's Fair Trade Commission.

The companies claim that Google restricts competition through imposing restrictions on local mobile service providers and smartphone manufacturers that have adopted its Android operating system from pre-loading rival mobile services.

"Through a marketing partnership with major smartphone producers, Google has prohibited other market players from pre-installing their search window or related applications," NHN said in a statement.

Mountain View, California-based Google said that it had yet to be contacted by the Fair Trade Commission, but would cooperate to answer any questions it may have.

"Android is an open platform," Google said in a statement issued through a local public relations company. Google added that carriers and companies it partners with "are free to decide which applications and services to include on their Android phones."

FTC spokesman Jun Sung-bok said the commission had no comment on the filings.

The decline in the jobless rate from 9.8 percent in November to 8.9 percent in February is the biggest three-month drop since 1983.

House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner, in a written statement, also applauded the lower jobless numbers. But he blamed the Obama administration's 2009 economic stimulus legislation for feeding what he called a "government spending binge" that Boehner says is blocking the recovery.

One of the president's top economic advisers, Austan Goolsbee, called the overall trend of the last few months' economic numbers encouraging. But he cautioned against reading too much into any one monthly report, and said there is considerable work to do to replace the nearly 8 million jobs lost in the recession.

Many economists agree that the growing number of new jobs is a sign that confidence in the economic recovery is building. But some warn that the unemployment rate could go back up as more people who had given up looking for work start trying again.

Crews placed a boom around the ship to keep more oil from reaching land. No one was injured in the accident.

The Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management said the area has a rich bird life, but it had not received any reports of birds affected by the oil spill.

"It's uncertain how many birds are there now and what consequences the oil spill will have on the nature," the agency said in a statement.

The cause of the accident had not been established Friday. Pictures from the scene showed the listing ship surrounded by rescue vessels, about 200 yards (meters) from the shore.

The Hvaler national park was established in 2009, some 60 miles (100 kilometers) south of Oslo, to protect an underwater ecosystem containing corals and kelp forest. It's Norway's only marine national park and is home to some 130 endangered plant and animal species, according to its website.

Mr. Taylor's lawyer Courtenay Griffiths was ordered to appear and apologize for storming out of court on Tuesday or face possible sanctions.

He did come to court, but he didn't say a word. Instead, another member of Mr. Taylor's defense team requested a separate hearing into the dispute between Mr. Griffiths and two of the three judges. The third judge, Julia Sebutinde, had dissented from the other two, arguing that the defense brief should have been allowed. Friday, she said that what she had feared had now come to pass.

"The disciplinary hearing is now taking over, or taking us away, from the trial," he said. "We are sitting at a crucial stage of the proceedings, towards the closure, where there is an important application for leave to appeal. It is a very, very crucial application that could fundamentally effect this trial and the work we've done in three and one-half years and now we're veering off into a side proceeding that deals with counsel's conduct. I think that this is sad."

In the end, Mr. Taylor's trial was delayed because of his appeal and not because of his lawyer's behavior. But that lawyer, Courtenay Griffiths, will be back in court in two weeks time to make his own case for why he shouldn't be penalized by this court.

World Food Program Steps Up Food Assistance to Victims in Sri Lanka

The World Food Program says it is stepping up food assistance to hundreds of thousands of flood victims in Sri Lanka. It says two successive waves of flooding have led to widespread destruction of rice paddies and other field crops in the affected areas.

Less than a month after severe floods devastated provinces in Eastern and North central Sri Lanka, the country has been struck by a second wave of floods. The United Nations says the magnitude and impact of these floods are worse than the first, adding to the misery of tens of thousands of people who have been made homeless and have lost their livelihoods.

Official figures put the number of people affected at more than one million. This includes nearly 200,000 who are homeless and are living in temporary evacuation centers.

In January, the World Food Program provided rations to half a million-flood victims. WFP now has provided food aid to another 326,000 people and says it expects this number to increase to 500,000.

WFP spokeswoman, Emilia Casella, says 450,000 metric tons of rice paddies were damaged in January and now even more damage has been done to the rice harvest.

"This is of particular concern for the most vulnerable people there," Casella said. "Our initial estimate was that at least 87,000 farming households would be affected by the damage to the rice crops and obviously that has a knock-on affect to the wider community of people who would be receiving that harvest food."

The United Nations reports unforeseeable rains are making it very difficult to deliver emergency assistance rapidly. It notes many reservoirs are overflowing and this is forcing people, once again, to flee their homes. It says roads are submerged and the lack of boats and helicopters is further complicating the relief effort.

Spokeswoman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Elizabeth Byrs, says the health situation also is precarious.

"We are concerned because of the contamination of water sources and the wells, which have been already de-contaminated and been re-contaminated by the second wave of floods," said Byrs. "And, we have this problem of health and sanitation issue and also there is a risk of acute respiratory infection and dengue outbreak. There are already several cases of vomiting, fever, which have been recorded."

Added to these woes is the lack of money to support the emergency relief operation. The United Nations issued a $50 million flash appeal in early January. Only $7.7 million has been received.

Treat Muslim Brotherhood with caution, Blair urges

London (CNN) -- Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood needs to be treated with caution, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair warned Monday.

"It's not an extremist group in a way that we have seen in other countries; on the other hand, we shouldn't be complacent about it either," he said.

"It is founded on a different view of the relationship between religion and public policy than most people in secular societies would want," he argued.

"Religion is an important part of our society, its voice should be heard, but I wouldn't want to live in even a democratic theocracy," the former prime minister said at the office of his Tony Blair Faith Foundation, which works to promote multifaith understanding.

He spoke a day after Egypt's government, under pressure from nearly two weeks of anti-government demonstrations, held talks with a range of opposition groups, including the Islamists.

Officially banned but quietly tolerated, the Muslim Brotherhood is regarded as Egypt's most organized opposition force.

Blair has been warning for the past week against letting "religious autocracy" or "religious exclusivity" take hold in Egypt.

He declined to say Monday that the Muslim Brotherhood aimed to impose either one.

"The truth is, I don't know, and neither does anybody else. And therefore what I am really saying is, don't be hysterical about it, but don't be complacent about it either," he said.

"I've always believe that democracy and Islam are perfectly compatible concepts," he added.

Blair praised the role President Hosni Mubarak has played in keeping peace in the Middle East over the past 30 years.

"That's not to say that Egypt shouldn't change its internal politics, but he has been instrumental, and so have the Egyptian authorities, for example preventing (the militant Islamist movement) Hamas getting the weapons they would want in Gaza," he said.

"If you ended up with a change in that position in Egypt, it would have serious implications for the Middle East peace process," said Blair, a Middle East peace envoy.

First GM, now states? Pros and cons of bankruptcy

NEW YORK - Big companies like General Motors file for bankruptcy. Some cities do, too. And last year 1.5 million Americans did it.

But U.S. states aren't allowed. Now a few policymakers and pundits are debating whether it's time to give states a court-sanctioned way to shed their debts.

The idea galls critics. "Baloney" is what California Treasurer Bill Lockyer calls it, saying his state, which is already weighing painful tax hikes and spending cuts, doesn't need the option.

It seems clear that some states can't afford their long-term promises to pay for pensions and retiree health care. Those swelling costs could force states to raise taxes and slash services like public transportation.

But is bankruptcy the right solution?

In bankruptcy court, a judge could force lenders and public workers to accept less than they are owed. Debt could drop overnight. Existing union contracts could be replaced with cheaper ones. In theory, states could regain their financial health.

But the risks are high. A state could be tied up in court for years as various sides squabble over a deal that might bring only scant relief in the end. Even discussing the idea could spook investors and rattle states' fragile finances. States need investors to buy their bonds, and demand was already dropping before talk of a bankruptcy option spread.

Fearing that towns and cities may default, investors in November and December pulled a record $21 billion from funds that invest in municipal bonds - twice as much as they did at the depths of the 2008 credit crisis, the Investment Company Institute says. Those still buying are demanding higher interest payments to compensate for the risk.

Standard & Poor's, which determines how credit-worthy states are and assigns ratings, said last week that a bankruptcy law would cause it to review the way it judges states. Downgrades would force states to pay higher interest rates.

If investors started selling the bonds, that would force interest rates higher, too, adding to the cost of financing the bonds.

"The higher the interest rate a state has to pay, the more potholes that can't be filled," says Marilyn Cohen of Envision Capital, a company that invests in bonds. "There's a whole chain reaction."

Some also question whether allowing states to go bankrupt would be wise economic policy in the long run. When a company or family cuts its debt through bankruptcy, it risks encouraging others to do the same, notes Dean Maki, chief U.S. economist at Barclays Capital. With states, the danger is greater.

"There's only 50 of them, so if you allow one to file, people will say, 'Why does that state get to escape their debt and not others?'" Maki says. "Are you encouraging poor behavior?"

Bankruptcy talk may already be taking a toll on public finances. Matt Fabian of Municipal Market Advisors says states, cities and towns are avoiding issuing new debt, partly because they fear a bankruptcy option.

States' combined deficits for next fiscal year are a projected $125 billion, says Iris Lav of the liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. And they haven't put enough money away to cover pensions due in coming decades. Estimates for the collective pension shortfall range from $500 billion to $3 trillion.

State tax revenues are starting to recover as the economy improves and as states raise taxes. Revenue rose 6.9 percent in the October-December quarter, based on early data from 41 states, according to a report from the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute released Tuesday. That would be the fastest increase in more than four years.

Still, most states face brutal budget squeezes. Tax revenue remains just below pre-recession levels, the report says.

"There's increasing recognition that something has to give," says Robert Ward, head of government finance research at the institute. "Are state taxes going to go up dramatically? Not in most places. Are services going to be slashed? Not in most. There are really only a few escape valves."

Two possible targets are bond investors and public workers.

Backers such as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich say states need the threat of a court-approved bankruptcy option to wrest concessions from bondholders and unions.

Unions would "face a much more dire outcome in bankruptcy court than they would if they renegotiated," says Patrick Gleason of the Americans for Tax Reform, a conservative group pushing for such a law.

Also propelling the idea is fear that states may eventually approach Washington for a taxpayer bailout like the one for Wall Street. Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., thinks a bankruptcy option would keep states from seeking federal aid, a spokeswoman says. House Judiciary Committee Chair Lamar Smith, R-Texas, says his panel will hold a hearing on the issue later this month. Unlike the case with cities and towns, there is no law allowing states to seek bankruptcy protection in federal courts.

A few states have moved to fix their finances. Lawmakers in Illinois, for instance, voted to raise personal income tax 66 percent, along with spending cuts. The state still faces a $15 billion deficit.

Some opponents argue that most states have the resources to pay their debts. They say bankruptcy backers are scaring people by lumping pension shortfalls, which can be plugged over many years, with annual deficits, which demand an immediate fix to keep state budgets balanced.

Unlike the federal government, every state except Vermont has a legal requirement to balance its budget, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. So when tax collections fall or spending spikes, states must find the money elsewhere. That's why so many have cut basic services during the recession.

By contrast, state pension gaps are spread over many years. They shrink or grow depending on assumptions about economic growth and investment returns. Bankruptcy opponents note that pension gaps always shrink as the economy improves and assumptions get brighter - though a strong economy would not entirely close the gap.

"Overall, pensions are not a significant reason for state financial problems," says Charles Loveless of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, who argues that states don't need a bankruptcy option.

Any legislation would face high hurdles. It's not clear the Constitution even allows a federal court to reorder a state's finances. Forcing investors to accept less money than a state promised when it sold bonds would be like forcing them to accept less money from bonds sold by Mexico.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., contends that states don't need bankruptcy because they have other ways to handle ballooning debts, including spending cuts, tax hikes and negotiations with unions.

He might have mentioned another: default. States can simply stop paying what they owe, though they most certainly would face higher interest rates the next time they sold bonds, assuming they'd be able to sell any. The fallout is difficult to judge because so few states have defaulted. The last time was when Arkansas stopped paying its creditors during the Great Depression. Only 54 of 60,000 municipal bonds that Moody's Investors Service rated from 1970 through 2009 have not been paid off on time.

The lack of defaults explains why U.S. governments of all sizes have managed to pay relatively low interest rates on their bonds, though rates have begun rising. Illinois bonds maturing in 2028 yield 6.1 percent. That's up from 5 percent in early November.

State bankruptcy is orderly and allows a final resolution of claims so states can borrow again. But it's easy to exaggerate the benefits and understate the costs.

James Spiotto, an attorney with Chapman and Cutler LLP in Chicago, says states would have to cede some control to the courts. Federal judges would determine economic priorities for millions of residents. And Lawrence Larose of Winston & Strawn, who represents owners of bonds sold by bankrupt Vallejo, Calif., notes that the payoff is uncertain.

Scrambling to pay its bills, with most revenue going to pay city workers, Vallejo felt it had no choice but to enter bankruptcy court. That was 2 1/2 years ago. The city has won some concessions from unions but is still fighting in court over what it can and can't legitimately cut.

"It's a very blunt scalpel," Larose says of bankruptcy. "It won't be a quick fix in any case."

On Sunday afternoon at the 18th-century, three-story Thomas Law House in Southwest Washington, the teenage girls of the nonprofit High Tea Society slipped on their red gloves, black dresses and green aprons to serve tea - and launch a business.

The girls, a cross-section of students from Northwest to Southeast, were practicing for their future tea-catering venture, Tea on Wheels.

The group, founded in 1997 by retired D.C. Superior Court judge Mary Terrell, takes girls from low-income backgrounds and, each Saturday, gives them college-prep courses and stock market advice as well as expands their cultural awareness.

Potential tea-catering clients clad in fur coats and fur or feathered hats ate small plates of cookies and drank tea at the historic home Sunday.

Brandi Taylor, 17, who attends McKinley Technology High School, said the group hopes it can strike a deal with the Marriott hotel chain to serve tea.

"We're working toward going to top colleges," she said, ticking off Penn State and Bowie State universities as her main choices. She loves the society's investment class. The girls have sunk money into Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and AT&T, she said.

Dayna Hayman, 15, of Southeast, said the program helps her understand the importance of striking out on her own and not adhering to group-think. "I look at my neighbors and see a lot of them are pregnant people. I've learned: Be your own person," she said.

Hayman oversees the group's stock club, and the portfolio has about $400 or $500. The money is used for college scholarships. "We're in the black," she said, reflecting on the past year's stock market swings.

Hayman wants to be a defense attorney. "Everybody deserves a second chance," she said.

hmm kembali lagi bikin ping dari sini, setidaknya ini menunjukan kembalinya semangat setelah beberapa hari ini mengalami kejenuhan. Lama tidak blogging, kemarin baru tau kalau sudah hampir seminggu ini ada kontes seo terbaru, kali ini menggunakan keyword Rusli Zainal Sang Visioner. Meskipun awalnya ragu-ragu untuk mengikuti kontes seo kali ini akhirnya di putuskan untuk ikut juga. Optimasi selama ini akhirnya memberi sedikit harapan meskipun belum sampai kepada target yang di harapkan. Pagi ini saya check sudah mulai masuk ke posisi 10, sementara target bisa masuk posisi 5 besar setidaknya. Alhamdulillah, itu juga perlu di syukuri, tidak mudah untuk bisa masuk ke posisi 10 besar dengan kata kunci online marketing pada google.com. Blog dengan pagerank nol harus bersaing dengan mereka yang pageranknya 5 atau 6 dengan backlink yang banyak. Belum lagi mereka sepertinya di dukung tim optimasi karena rata2 yang masuk di halaman pertama adalah mereka yang memang bergerak dalam bidang online marketing.

Meskipun begitu tidak ada alasan untuk menyerah, dari awal sudah memilih kata kunci ini, maka harus di tuntaskan, target untuk masuk ke posisi 5 masih harus terus di lanjutkan.

Denger2 facebook akan di larang atau di tutup di Indonesia. Secara pribadi dan subjektif saya termasuk orang yang setuju dan mendukung seandainya rencana itu benar adanya. Walaupun memang untuk saya pribadi tidak berpengaruh apa2 karena memang facebook atau situs-situs seperti itu telah saya block di komputer saya.

belum lama kita di kejutkan dengan jatuhnya pesawat TNI AU jatuh di kota Bandung, kini satu lagi pesawat TNI AU jatuh dengan menewaskan penumpangnya. Kali ini pesawat yang jatuh dari jenis Hercules, yaitu Hercules C-130 A-1325 dan terjatuh di Desa Nggeplak, Kecamatan Karas, Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur.

Pesawat Hercules ini jatuh dan terbakar di area pesawan setelah sebelumnya sempat menambrak rumah penduduk yang ada di sekitar area jatuhnya pesawat. Kabar terakhir menyebutkan bahwa korban yang hingga saat ini telah mencapai 100 orang lebih dengan diantaranya meninggal dunia.

Sudah setahun tidak melibatkan diri dalam kegiatan project, karena setahun ini keasyikan menjelajahi dunia maya sambil mencari-cari dollar dari dunia internet ini.

Ada rasa rindu juga untuk kembali bermain di project meskipun lebih capek sebenarnya karena akan kembali terlibat dalam jalur birokrasi yang terkadang bikin kesal. Kontes ini sudah memasuki masa-masa akhir, namun google masih saja keki dengan halaman optimasi punya saya. sampai sekarang halaman tersebut masih seringkali hilang dari serp. sesekali muncul kemudian hilang lagi padahal landing page nya mempunyai google pagerank 4. PR tinggal pr, urusan dengan serp beda lagi.

Kalau saja mengikuti peraaan sudah tidak ingin lagi mengoptimasi halaman itu karena sama sekali tidak memberi hasil yang positif. Tapi berhubung cuma jadi penonton juga tidak enak, ya wiss kemabli lagi saja berusaha masalah hasil urusan belakangan yang penting tidak menyerah.

Update kurang menyenangkan datang dari reviewme, mungkin sudah dari awal bulan update ini cuma saya sendiri baru mengetahuinya kemarin malam. Update yang di maksud adalah acoount saya untuk sekarang hanya bisa menerima 20 job padahal bulan sebelumnya masih bisa menerima sampai 40 job. ada apakah ini? apa karena jumlah jobyg di ambil periode sebelumnya yang memang tidak sampai 30 sehinggal jumlah job yg bisa di terima untuk bulan ini di turunkan menjadi 20.

Yang pasti dengan pembatasan ini jadi harus pilih2 dalam menerima job karena minggu pertama saja jumlah job yang di kerjakan sudah 10 job. jadi terpaksa hanya mengambil job dengan harga tinggi saja.

tentu saja ingin akan sangat berpengaruh juga pda total dollar yang bisa di kumpulkan bulan ini :(

Kalau beberapa hari kemarin saya sempat posting tentang cuci gudang blog, Banyak blog yang saya hapus karena ada sedikit perubahan cara dalam membuat jaringan. Kemarin justru memborong blog atau tepatnya membeli sekitar 21 domain.

Ya, sekarang saya memang tidak lagi menggunakan banyak domain gratisan dalam melakukan optimasi melainkan banyak menggunakan domain berbayar. Kenapa? alasannya karena domain berbayar di parkir sedang domain gratisan tidak. Kecuali beberapa dan untuk beberapa layanan parking domain.

Mungkin masih butuh waktu untuk menguji apakah langkah yang di tempuh ini akan efektif untuk bisa membangun jaringan blog yang kuat atau tidak. Kalau menurut perhitungan mestinya bisa, kalau tidak.. hehe rugi juga sudah keluar uang lumayan tapi tidak bisa memberikan hasil yang optimal. Muda-mudahan hasil yang di dapat sesuai dengan harapan. amien. :)

Kembali ke Kampanye Damai

Kampanye damai pemilu Indonesia 2009 sudah terlalu lama di tinggalkan sampai akhirnya tenggelam di dasar serp. Kebetulan sekarang sedang agak luang waktunya, saya coba untuk kembali menggali dan mengangkat sehingga tidak terlalu terkubur dalam dasar serp yag jauh dari jangkauan orang.

Hasil akhir memang sudah tidak lagi menjadi sasaran, asal bisa memperbaiki sedikit saja sudah cukup baik setidaknya tidak membuang sia-sia usaha yang telah di lakukan di awal kontes.

Kontes seo kampanya damai pemilu Indonesia 2009 sebenarnya sudah memasuki masa akhir dan tinggal menunggu kurang dari 3 minggu lagi sampai akhirnya pemenang kontes akan di umumkan. mungkin calon-calon pemenang sudah mulai terlihat diantara para kontestan yang saat ini menduduki posisi 10 besar.

Google yang semakin ketat

Beberapa waktu lalu paid review merupakan program favorit yang saya ikuti untuk mendapatkan dollar. Namun semakin kesini google semakin memperketat pemberian PR kepada blog-blog yang mengikuti program paid review tersebut. Saat ini saja blog saya yang ber pr tiga hanya tinggal 2, sementara yang lainynya drop semua sebagian turun ke 2 sebagian lagi nol.

Sebagian blogger memang banyak yang beralih ke domain baru yang di beli untuk menggantikan blog lama yang ngedrop, namun saya sendiri tidak suka dengan langkah ini. Bagi saya lebih suka untuk tetap mengurus blog lama meskipun pr nya sudah drop. Mungkin kedepan PR nya bisa naik lagi.

Memasuki masa sulit seperti itu, google adsense mau tidak mau menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk menutup kemunduran dari paid review. Walaupun sampai saat ini google adssnse baru bisa menghasilkan maksimal sehari $2, lumayan lah :) meski masih kalau jauh dari paid review bahkan ketika pun di saat sulit seperti sekarang.

Cuci gudang? Cuci gudang blog maksudnya. Malam ini lebih dari 20 blog saya hapus, dimana kebanyakan blog tersebut berbasis blogspot. Adapun blog tersebut di hapus karena ada sedikit perubahan yang ingin saya lakukan dalam melakukan optimasi. Mengandalkan jumlah blog yang banyak ternyata membawa kesulitan untuk melakukan update sehingga seperti percuma punya blog banyak tapi tidak terurus. Yang di hapus tentunya blog dummy bukan blog utama. Dan sekarang dummy blog berbasis blogspot tinggal satu yaitu blog ini.

Dengan banyak pengurangan blog di harapkan kedepannya blog bisa di update meskipun itu hanya sebagai blog dummy yang tidak di monetize. Meskipun blog gratisan banyak di hapus, di sisi lain blog dengan domain sendiri bertambah 2. Sebenarnya ingin menambah lebih banyak namun karena ini urusannya sudah duit yang harus keluar sehingga harus hati-hati dalam membeli domain. Nanti malah tidak bermanfaat.

Domain itu di beli dengan maksud untuk di parking di seo parking dan di isi dengan fasilitas autoblog dari seoparking, sehingga tidak repot-repot harus mengupdate content. Paling artikel sendiri di buat sesekali saka.

The search for federal aid begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form can be filled out on paper or submitted online. Once it is processed, the government will make a judgement about the level and kinds of aid you are eligible for.
